North Texas Bird and Wildlife Club Meets

The North Texas Bird and Wildlife Club meets Tuesday, January 19, at 7 PM at the NALC Building on Southwest Parkway (next to Wichita Valley nursery.) Terry McKee will be making a presentation about the upcoming Great Backyard Bird Count.

Foggy Morning

It was foggy at Lake Wichita this morning. Consequently, I had the park pretty much to myself, other than 2 intrepid bikers that crossed the bridge to the right about the time I was leaving the part at 8:30. Usually there are lots of bikers and walkers on the trails on Sunday mornings.

Adult Education Presentation at RBNC

River Bend Nature Center will be presenting a series of Adult Education programs on water over the next couple of months. I have been asked to present the first program and will try my best not to put people off the remainder of the series. If you're interested in the subject of water, please come.
If you're a member of the Rolling Plains Texas Master Naturalists, the program will count for one hour of advanced training.

Sierra Club/EcoFair Planning Meeting

The Red River Sierra Club group will meet Tuesday, 12 January at 7PM at the Thai Orchid, 1912 Elwood Avenue North, Wichita Falls.

At this time of year the group spends a lot of time planning for the EcoFair in October. Also on the agenda is planning for an upcoming screening of the documentary, Food Inc., discussion of an upcoming adult education series on water at River Bend Nature Center, and discussion of a group project to increase the number of bike racks available in Wichtia Falls.

Anyone is invited. If you are a member of the national Sierra Club organization, you are a member of our group. If you aren't a member, application forms will be available if you decide you would like to join.

Don't Forget Trees Needed

Don't forget that Inland Fisheries could sure use your live trees for fish habitat. They haven't had many come in and plan to drop trees in Lake Arrowhead next Tuesday morning. In addition to the Inland Fisheries office, you can drop trees at Lake Arrowhead State Park if you live closer to that location.
